We say she needs to go

STUART, Fla. – The Stuart mayor is facing sharp criticism after she directed a verbal insult toward a Stuart police officer.

The Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association reports Stuart Mayor Eula Clarke said “I didn’t know we were serving pig,” in reference to a uniformed police officer she saw at a local grocery store. The police officer says he heard her say it.

Initially, Mayor Clarke wasn’t interested in telling me her side of the story.

I asked, “So what happened on January the 11 involving a Stuart police officer?”

Clarke: “Andrew, I told you I want to make a short statement to the public.”

So I tried again.

“Did you make reference to a pig in reference to a Stuart police officer?” I asked.

“Again, I’m telling you that I support law enforcement,” she replied.

From John Kazanjian side, the president of the local police benevolent association, the story went like this: A Stuart police officer was inside Taylor’s grocery store when Mayor Clarke walked in on January 11.

“She looks at the officer and says, “What are we serving, pig today?” Kazanjian said. “The poor guy walked out, you know, hurt. That’s coming from the mayor of the city?”

During our interview with Kazanjian he received a letter from Mayor Clarke outlining her apology, asking for forgiveness.

“It’s a first step,” he says. “That’s just on paper. Anyone can write that. She needs to get with the men and women,” he said referencing meeting with the entire police force in person.

The mayor told me she apologized to the officer already.

“I have met with him and I have expressed to him how sorry it is that this unfortunate event happened,” Clarke said.

And she would be willing to do the same to the entire police force- while finally acknowledging the January 11 incident.

“It happened. That was something that happened. It’s done with. I want to move on. I want the officers to work for our community. I want them to believe in what I do as mayor. To believe in what they do for their jobs. I just want to make sure that they know I have their backs,” she said.

The association says they hope the department wide apology happens sometime early next week.

Olga Woltering, 84, from Georgia

Parishioners at the Catholic Church of the Transfiguration in Cobb County, Georgia, remember Olga Woltering as “the life of the party.”

“She was always a bright spirit,” Ron Schaefer said. “We’d see her at church, and it was always a pleasure to see her smiling face and say hello to her.”

On Saturday, those same church members who recalled the octogenarian’s bright smile circulated news of her death.

She and her husband, 90, had been an active part of their congregation since 1978.

At Saturday evening’s Mass, Father Fernando Molina-Restrepo spoke of evil, saying there are some people walking in darkness, “bringing pain and clouds of sadness into our world.”

“We saw an example of this yesterday at the Fort Lauderdale airport,” he said.

Woltering and her husband flew to Fort Lauderdale for a cruise, parishioners said. Friends said she was originally from England. Ralph Woltering had served in the U.S. Air Force, parishioner Alvin Connolly said.

“From what I understand, their sons are in Florida with her husband right now,” Connolly said.

The couple lived in a retirement community.

“She and her husband were kind of the life of the party,” Connolly said. “They’d go to a dance, and they’d be the last ones on the floor.

“You look at them and say, ‘Man I hope I can do everything they do when I’m that age,’” Connolly said.

Woltering was active in the ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic charity affiliated with her church, said Roger Heil, the grand knight of the local Knights of Columbus group. Her husband was involved in the Knights of Columbus, he said.

Terry Andres 62 of Virginia Beach, Virginia

Terry Andres started celebrating his 62nd birthday on Friday. He was getting ready to go on a 16-day cruise when authorities said Esteban Santiago ended his life at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Andres and his wife, Ann Andres, flew to Fort Lauderdale from Virginia Beach, Virginia. They were at the Delta Sky Club, when he decided to go get a luggage cart. He died at the baggage claim area of Terminal 2.

Ann Andres survived. Their daughter Ryan Kim  and the families of four other victims killed were still trying to understand what happened.

“I know that everyone always says that people are the greatest in the world, but he was the greatest person you could know,” Kim said during an interview with the Palm Beach Post. “He never had a horrible word to say about anyone or anything.”

Andres was a member of the Oceana Volunteer Fire Department. Other members of the department said he had been a support technician since 2004.

“He was well liked and respected for both his dedication to being a volunteer, as well as his professional approach,” the department said in a statement, according to WAVY-TV.

Michael Oehme, 57

Iowa couple Michael and Kari Oehme loved to travel. They were heading to Fort Lauderdale on Friday for another high-seas adventure when they were caught in the spray of bullets that killed five people at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Michael Oehme, 57, was fatally shot. His wife, 55, was shot in the shoulder and is expected to recover, according to a family member.

Michael Oehme was a surveyor and had his own company called Boundaryline Surveys Oehme-Nielsen & Associates, according to public records. His wife is a customer service representative for a telecommunications company, according to her Facebook profile.

They live with their dog in a two-story home in the Wilshire Heights subdivision in Council Bluffs, a city of 62,000 residents in Iowa just east of Omaha, Neb. A neighbor said they have lived in the development for at least 20 years.

They have a daughter, Andrea Oehme, 28, who works in food service at a hospital, according to her social media profile.

The day of the shooting, she updated her profile photo with “Pray for Fort Lauderdale” and her cover photo with an image of a candle that read “Pray for Ft. Lauderdale Airport Shooting Victims.”

Through their social media posts, which include selfies, the Oehmes radiated love, a tight family of three. One of Andrea Oehme’s updates reads, “Family is everything.”

On Father’s Day, she posted, “Happy Father’s Day to the most amazing man I’ve ever met … MY DAD!!! Love you to the moon and back Daddy.”

In a photo from last February, she posed with her mom on a Florida dock and wished a happy birthday “to my best friend and the best mom ever!! I’m so lucky to have you in my life.” Another 2016 image shows them smiling while attending a Ringo Starr performance.

And in a separate post last year, Kari Oehme wrote on her daughter’s page, “No matter how old you are, we will never leave your side. Love you so, so much.”

Elizabeth Oehme-Miller said that her brother Michael and her sister-in-law were preparing for a Caribbean cruise scheduled to depart Saturday.

She said they traveled often, enjoyed cruising and were looking forward to their next trip, according to The Associated Press. She also added that a family member is heading to Fort Lauderdale to be with Kari Oehme.

Congressman takes his oath on Quran

America, not Keith Ellison, decides what book a Congressman takes his oath on

Quran oath controversy of the
110th United States Congress

In mid-November 2006 it was reported that Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to the United States Congress (for Minnesota‘s 5th congressional district), “will take his oath of office with his hand upon the Qur’an, the Islamic holy book“.[1][2] In reaction to the news, conservative media pundit Dennis Prager criticized the decision in his November 28, 2006, column entitled “America, not Keith Ellison, decides what book a Congressman takes his oath on”.[3]

The column attracted national attention from both Ellison and Prager supporters. Presented with the fact that all members of the House swear in (or affirm) en masse without the use of any religious text, and that such works are only used in ceremonial reenactments afterwards, Prager stated “that’s the whole point: it’s exactly because it’s ceremonial that it matters”.[4] In response to a wave of criticism, Prager released another column on the topic on December 5, 2006, entitled “A response to my many critics—and a solution”.[5] In that column, Prager repeated the inaccurate claim that no, or hardly any, officeholder in U.S. history had ever refused to take his oath on the Bible.

The controversy became more heated when Rep. Virgil Goode (R–VA) issued a letter to his constituents stating his view that Ellison’s decision to use the Qur’an is a threat to “the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America…[and] if American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran”.[6] Goode’s foray into the controversy caused many other members of Congress to weigh in.

Ellison went on to use the English translation of the Qur’an owned by Thomas Jefferson for the swearing-in ceremony.

Keith Maurice Ellison (born August 4, 1963) has been the U.S. Representative for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district since 2007. He is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), the Minnesota state Democratic Party affiliate. The district centers on Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs. Ellison is a co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a Chief Deputy Whip, and also serves on the House Committee on Financial Services.

Ellison was the first Muslim to be elected to the U.S. Congress, and along with André Carson of Indiana, is one of two Muslims now serving in Congress.[2] He is also the first African American elected to the House from Minnesota.[3] In November 2016, Ellison was widely reported to be in the running for chair of the Democratic National Committee, with the support of several senators and progressive groups.

André D. Carson (born October 16, 1974) is the U.S. Representative for Indiana’s 7th congressional district, serving since a special election in 2008. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

He is the grandson of his predecessor, former U.S. Representative Julia Carson (1938–2007).[2][3] Carson is the second Muslim to be elected to the United States Congress, following Keith Ellison in 2006.

André Carson was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. At a young age, Carson’s interest in public service was shaped by his grandmother, the late Congresswoman Julia Carson. Carson grew up in a rough neighborhood, and he credits that experience for shaping his policy views on issues like education, public safety and economic opportunity.[4]

Carson attended Indianapolis Public Schools and is a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. He went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management from Concordia University Wisconsin and a Master of Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.[citation needed]

Carson got his professional start as a law enforcement officer, serving as an investigator for the Indiana State Excise Police for nine years. He later joined the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and was detailed to an Intelligence Fusion Center, supervising an anti-terrorism unit.[citation needed]

Following his career in law enforcement, Carson was a marketing specialist for Cripe Architects + Engineers in Indianapolis.[4]

Mike Huckabee – Letter to President Obama

Mike Huckabee – Letter to the President

Mike Huckabee to Obama
Mike Huckabee to Obama

Dear Mr. President:

How’s the vacation going on Martha’s Vineyard? Pretty swell place for sure. Ocean breeze, beautiful homes, and packed out with America’s top 1% of the 1%—you must be in your element.

And golf? I’m sure you’re playing so much golf, you’re getting almost tired of it. But then, you never tire of golf. You just seem to tire of that “Presidency thing.”

My neighbors in Louisiana aren’t having it so good, Mr. President. They are underwater—again. Historic floods that have impacted or destroyed 40,000 homes and left thousands of families homeless are sure ruining their hopes for a summer vacation this year. Probably will take away hopes for a summer vacation next year as well. Their once nice homes are now waterfront property. In fact their homes don’t just front the water—they are IN the water and the water is in them.

I realize that in the hustle and bustle of golf, having ice cream, and strolling the quaint streets of the Vineyard you may not have noticed this catastrophic natural disaster. And because you have paid so little attention to it, sadly not many Americans have either.

It’s one reason that when a apocalyptic event like a flood, tornado, or hurricane happens, Governors and Presidents show up. It’s not because their presence can make the water recede (although I do recall you saying something back in 2008 about how nature itself would respond to your election), or pick up the shattered splinters of a home, or recover the lost personal effects a family will never get back. I know this because in my 10 1/2 years as Governor, I walked through many flood waters, stepped over fallen trees during ice storm, held in my arms a weeping widow whose husband was killed shielding her from the fierce and unforgiving winds of a tornado.

I wasn’t there because I could singularly “fix it.” I was there because my presence brought attention to the crisis that my absence wouldn’t have. The news crews who went because I did caused churches and inviduals to see the devastation and it mobilized them to action. It gave voice to the victims, and it let those whose lives were irreparably changed know they were not forgotten. It also drove home the degree of devastation to me, and gave me a greater sense of urgency to marshall all the resources of my state to help in the recovery.

President Clinton—you know him, right? He plays a lot of golf too, but when major disasters struck, President Clinton came. Natural disasters aren’t political. And elected officials shouldn’t be either in the midst of one. I personally walked, drove, and flew through many scenes of human tragedy with President Clinton. Whatever our political differences, he understood that his presence, like that of the local Governor, was reassuring to people who will never know the sweet seabreeze of Martha’s Vineyard. Right now, some of your citizens only smell the stench of a flood’s aftermath—rotting fish and animal carcasses, growing mildew inside homes, and floating sewage that comes as treatment plants involuntarily discharge their waste because of the rising water.

Maybe if it rains in Martha’s Vineyard and you have to cancel a golf game, you might fire up ol’ Air Force One and venture down to check on my friends in Louisiana. I know it will make it there, because it’s taken you and the fam all over the world on some pretty nifty vacations. I don’t begrudge you those vacations, by the way. You need them. But Louisiana needs you right now. Not because you can personally fix it, but because you showing up means a lot of resources will show up as will the cameras to help the nations see how bad it is.

Yes, I’m a partisan Republican when it comes to politics, but this isn’t about our politics—it’s about our people. President Clinton would have already been there. I know there are some things about his Presidency we don’t want you to imitate. But showing up when Americans are hurting would do you and the country some good.

Best wishes,

Mike Huckabee

CAIR to Muslims: Defy Customs Agents

CAIR to Muslims: Defy Customs Agents

Hassan Shibly (Executive Director CAIR, Florida) ( P.O.S. )
Published on Jun 2, 2016

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) calls on Muslims to openly defy U.S. Customs Agents when questioned on travel from Islamic controlled countries by saying, “None of your Damn Business.”Hassan Shibly ( P.O.S. ) (Executive Director CAIR, Florida) also encourages Muslims to agitate Customs Agents by saying Islamic prayers “very loudly” when questioned. Shibly ( P.O.S. ) also stated that he was, “Asked to do this by our friends from within the government.” Hassan Shibly ( P.O.S. ) was awarded by Nihad Awad (CAIR co-founder and National Executive Director) as “CAIR Chapter of the Year” in 2013. CAIR’s open defiance of law enforcement has been well documented. In 2011 CAIR, California posted flyers on their website featuring a sinister looking FBI agent with the headlines, “Build a Wall of Resistance,” and “Don’t Talk to the FBI.”

The FBI has reportedly cut ties to CAIR after the Holy Land Foundation trial during which CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator along with its co-founder Omar Achmad as supporters of the terrorist group HAMAS. In November 2014 the UAE (United Arab Emirates) specifically listed CAIR as a “terrorist organization” saying the group is “linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, promote extremism, and incite and finance terrorism,” and “wear a cloak of democracy and liberalism.”

In July 2014, Breitbart released a story showing video of Shibly’s ( P.O.S. ) CAIR, FL group sponsoring an pro HAMAS rally in Miami where members were chanting, “We are HAMAS. We are Jihad.”
